Description
The Old Tollhouse is a former tollhouse built around 1826 by William Robertson, later deconstructed and re-sited around 1995 by Leslie F Hunter. It is a single-storey and basement structure with an octagonal plan, located on the east side of Deveron Bridge. The building is constructed from red sandstone ashlar, with rubble used for the basement. It features a base course, a timber eaves course, and raised margins at the angles.
On the southwest side, there is a two-leaf timber door with a geometric fanlight, set within a curved recessed porch supported by tapered Doric timber columns. Each side of the building has a single window, although the northeast window is now blocked. The windows have 6-pane glazing in timber casements. The roof is octagonal with overhanging eaves, covered in grey slates. At the center of the roof, there is an ashlar and coped chimney with two clay cans of different sizes.
