Description
St Ninian's Church in Turriff was built in 1794 and originally enlarged to a T-plan in 1830. The bellcote was added by William Smith in 1875, along with a vestry and organ chamber to the south, and other alterations by James Duncan in the same year. Duncan's addition was later removed, and the church underwent a complete internal reconstruction, with a chancel and other additions made by A. Marshall Mackenzie in 1914. The church features a simple round-arched Georgian rectangle design, constructed from red ashlar with quoin angles. The east gable has a Venetian window, and there is a pedimented bellcote above, which houses a bell by J. Taylor from 1875.
