Description
Goval Bridge, built around 1800 and widened around 1880, is a single-span bridge featuring a segmentally arched design. It has a parapet that is flanked by projecting pilasters and extended wingwalls on the west side. The bridge is constructed from coursed squared granite rubble, with bullfaced squared rubble used for the arch ring and the base of the pilasters. The parapet is square coped and slightly sloped, with a corbelled stringcourse at the base course. The pilasters and stringcourse are aligned with the level of the parapet and include a blind quatrefoil design flanked by blind arrowloops, topped with square coping. The wingwalls on the west side have extensive lengths with saddleback coping.
