Description

Marykirk Bridge, built in 1814, features four segmental arches supported by finely channelled ashlar pier-cutwaters. The bridge is constructed of rough ashlar with fine ashlar dressings. The voussoirs are alternately raised in a hood mould, and there are recessed circular panels at the spandrels. Bold curved buttresses are present at the approaches. The bridge was designed by civil engineer Robert Stevenson.
