Description
41 Low Street in Banff is a building dating from 1820 to 1830. It is a three-storey structure with a dormerless attic and has a wide four-bay design. The ground floor has been altered to fit modern shop fronts. The front is made of grey granite ashlar, while the rear is constructed from harl-pointed rubble.
There is a single off-centre round-headed doorway featuring a fanlight and a panelled door, positioned between the modern shop fronts with contemporary glazing and fascias. The first and second floors have regular window arrangements. The first floor boasts four large windows with consoled cornices, moulded jambs, and shallow panelled aprons, all featuring 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. The second floor has smaller plain windows with renewed 16-pane uPVC glazing.
The building has corniced stacks at the ends and rear, and a slate roof that includes modern rooflights. At the rear, two wings project, and while there are some modern windows and glazing on the second floor, the original 12-pane glazing remains largely intact.
