Description
Tarves Parish Church, located on Kirkbrae in Tarves, was built in 1798 and features a plain rectangular design measuring 75 feet by 39 feet 7 inches, constructed from ashlar granite with cherry cocking, except for the rubble northern wall. The south wall has four round arched windows, while each gable has a door and an arched window. A simple ball-capped birdcage bellcote is situated on the west gable. The porch and vestry are built from rubble and have crow-stepped gables, and there is an organ chamber apse at the third south window, designed by James Cobban. Inside, there is a well-preserved original horseshoe gallery, pews, and a fine pulpit dating from around 1825, along with a tie-barred ceiling. Some of the glazing is partly original, and the church features a bell by J. Warner from 1855.
