Description
North Ythsie is a building from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, designed in a T-plan. The front part, dating to the early 19th century, features a single-storey and attic structure with a part basement, built on a sloping site using granite ashlar. The façade has a two-window arrangement with a central door, which is a six-panelled door topped by a rectangular reglazed fanlight. There are railed steps leading up to the entrance. The gabled roof is slated and includes three canted dormers and end stacks.
Notably, the lower piended wings have circular front windows and are slightly advanced, overlapping the main building's front elevation by the thickness of the gable wall. The original farmhouse now serves as the back wing, which is a substantial two-storey structure on the east side, featuring a three-window harled exterior with margins and a late and central porch. The link to the early 19th-century front wing includes a timber canted bay. The north gable is constructed of coursed rubble and has two small attic lights, with ashlar stacks. The building has straight skews and slated roofs, some of which have been partly reslated.
