Description
Rhu-Na-Haven Lodge, designed by Sir Robert Lorimer around 1911, is a single-storey, three-bay lodge with a square plan. It is constructed from tooled coursed granite with finely finished raised margins and features rounded reveals and an eaves course.
The southeast elevation is nearly symmetrical, featuring a two-leaf boarded timber door with a square glazed panel in the center, accessed by a single step. To the left, there is a tripartite window, and to the right, a bipartite window. The northeast elevation is blank. The northwest elevation is asymmetrical, with a window in the center flanked by a bipartite window on the left. There is a flat-roofed addition that projects from the right bay, which includes a central stack, a boarded timber door, and a window on the left return, while the right return is blank. The southwest elevation is also asymmetrical, with a window located off-center to the left.
The lodge features predominantly small-pane timber casement windows and a swept pyramidal slate roof. A coped, tooled granite stack breaks the pitch to the southeast and has circular cans.
The interior was not seen in 1999.
The property includes decorative ironwork gates to the southeast, which are flanked by two circular-plan granite gatepiers topped with conical pebbled caps and oval finials. Convex quadrant walls made of coursed tooled granite flank the gates on both sides, featuring semi-circular pebbled coping and circular-plan terminations, also capped with conical pebbled caps and oval finials.
