Description
Later 19th century. 2-storey, 7-bay, plain Scots baronial house with 20th century addition. Tooled snecked pink granite with rounded reveals. Crowstepped gables; curved and chamfered angles.
E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: asymmetrical; recessed bay to centre, tripartite window to ground floor, gabled window to 1st floor; 3-storey circular entrance tower to flanking bay to left, architraved doorway and 1st floor window, panelled timber door with 2-pane fanlight to ground floor, flanked to left and right by window; window to 1st floor, dividing band course, window to 2nd floor, crenellated parapet. Gabled bay to 3rd bay from right, tripartite window to gournd fllor, window to 1st floor, window set in gablehead of attic floor, window to ground floor of left return, gabled window to 1st floor. Modern glazed timber door with 2-pane fanlight to ground floor of penultimate bay to right, window to 1st floor, window set in gable to attic floor; window to ground and 1st floor of bay to outer right. Bipartite widow to ground floor of penultiamte bay to left, window to 2sxt floor, window set in gablehead of attic floor; window to 1st floor of bay to outer left; window to curved angle to outer left. 2-storey, 3-bay harled addition to outer right; tripartite window to centre of ground floor, flanked to right by window and to left by modern glazed timber door; gabled windows breaking eaves to 1st floor.
N ELEVATION: not seen 1998.
W ELEVATION: asymmetrical; 4-bay; bipartite window to ground floor of penultimate bay to left; gabled window breaking eaves with ball finial to 1st floor of penultimate bay to left and right, modern rectangular dormer to attic floor behind; 6-light canted window to ground floor of bay to outer left, window to 1st floor, window set in gablehead, chamfered angle to outer left with glazed opening to ground floor, corbelled gabled window to 1st floor; circular tower in re-entrant angle with recessed bay to outer left; tripartite window to ground floor, window to 1st floor, window set in gable of 2nd floor, ball finial to apex.
S ELEVATION: asymmetrical; 2-bay; gabled bay to left with bipartite window to ground floor and window to 1st floor; gabled window to 1st floor of bay to right.
Predominantly small-pane upper sashes and plate glass lower sashes. Grey slate roof with lead ridge. Coped wallhead and gablehead stacks with circular cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.
INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
