Description

The bridge at Gartly, designed by James Abernethy & Co, Engineers, Aberdeen, is dated 1884. It features a flat-arch design with parallel girder construction over the Water of Bogie. The bridge is supported by panelled cast-iron girders that span between granite ashlar abutments, with coped granite terminal piers positioned above bolted cast-iron plates that form the parapet. The structure includes bowed stays and has a soffit consisting of vaulted sections between transverse beams.
