Description
This is an early 18th century, or possibly 17th century, walled garden with a doocot located at Findrack House, near Torphins. The garden is enclosed by a substantial, old coped wall on its north and west sides. Situated at the southwest corner of the garden is a circular doocot, constructed of rubble with pinnings and capped with a conical roof. Two table sundials are present within the garden. A sundial, dated 1846 and created by Adam Charles, stands within the garden and features a metal dial set on a baluster. A stone, octagonal table sundial, dating from around 1850, is located to the south of the garden. Historic maps show this complex on Ordnance Survey maps surveyed in 1865 and published in 1869, and again on maps surveyed in 1900 and published in the same year.
