Description
St Kieran's Well, located in Mineralwell Park, is a rectangular-plan structure built in 1860 and restored in 1982. It encloses a mineral well situated beneath the Glenury Railway Viaduct and is constructed from pink and grey Peterhead granite. The building features a base course, a flat cope, a triangular pediment, and flanking fielded piers. The east face has a small circular basin below a round-arched niche that incorporates a scallop shell. An incised tablet in the tympanum reads 'ST KIERAN'S WELL ERECTED BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION AD 1860'. Additionally, a small bronze plaque on the right states 'RESTORED BY STONEHAVEN AND DISTRICT COMMUNITY COUNCIL MARCH 1982'.
