Description

The Glenury Viaduct is a railway structure built around 1850 and rebuilt between 1883 and 1884 by the Blaikie Brothers from Aberdeen. It was strengthened in 1977. This curved viaduct features 14 spans over the Cowie Water. The piers are designed in a reducing, four-stage stepped style, with squared and snecked rubble in the first three stages and concrete in the fourth stage. The platform consists of three central plate girders, with additional strengthening provided by a central girder and steel plate bases above. The entire structure is topped with a wrought-iron plate girder parapet.
