Description
Possibly J MacKay, later 19th century. 5-bay terrace, comprising 2-storey and attic, 2-bay and 3-bay houses. Coursed tooled granite finely finished to margins. Base course; projecting cills; pilastered doorways corniced and consoled; predominantly panelled timber doors with letterbox fanlights; eaves course; canted dormers.
S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: No 32: 2-bay, doorway to left of ground floor, window above, canted window through ground and 1st floors of bay to right, breaking eaves with piended roof, skylights to attic. Nos 34-36: asymmetrical, 3-bay, doorway to centre, window above to 1st floor, regular fenestration to ground and 1st floor of flanking bay to right, canted tower to outer left angle, window to each of 3 sides at ground and 1st floors, 3 round-arched timber windows to attic floor in truncated platform spire with decorative ironwork brattishing.
E ELEVATION: obscured by adjoining terrace (see separate listing).
N ELEVATION: asymmetrical; variety of door and window patterns, some, dormers and skylights to attic.
W ELEVATION: asymmetrical; 2-bay; doorway to No 36 to right, flanked to left by window, regular fenestration to 1st floor, dormer to left of attic floor flanked to right by skylight, canted tower adjoining to outer right (see above).
Predominantly 4-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof with lead ridge. Coped stone skews with blocked skewputts. Coped granite gablehead and ridge stacks with circular and octagonal cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.
INTERIORS: not seen 1999.
GATEPIERS AND BOUNDARY WALLS: low coped granite walls enclosing gardens to S and W, with square-plan gatepiers with pyramidal caps, ironwork railings and gates. Brick and granite coped rubble boundary walls to N.
