Description

Cranford is a villa built around 1870, featuring two storeys and an asymmetrical design with multiple gables, set within a large garden. The main part of the house is in an L-shape and includes a single-storey wing and a lodge. The front has a balconied square bay window that connects to an entrance porch, both of which are simply balustraded. The exterior is made of coursed broached granite ashlars with polished granite detailing, although the rear is partly painted. The upper storeys have dormers that are cut through the eaves and feature corbelled, pedimented heads. The main front has plate glass windows on the lower level, while the lesser elevations have windows divided into 4 and 8 pane sashes. The roofs are covered with slate, and there are simple corniced chimney stacks.

The lodge is a single-storey cottage positioned at a right angle to Cranford Road. Its main front is made of granite ashlar, while the rest of the building is rendered. There are gatepiers alongside the lodge that have pyramidal caps.
