Description

11 Devanha Terrace in Ferryhill, Aberdeen, dates from around 1870 and is a two-storey building with a basement and attic, featuring a six-bay terrace made up of two mirrored three-bay houses. The exterior is constructed from tooled coursed grey granite, which is finely finished at the margins. The ground floor has recessed cills, panelled timber doors with letterbox fanlights, and projecting cills on the first floor. The eaves course and canted dormers are present on the attic floor.

The principal elevation is symmetrical with regular window placement on the basement floor. There are two doorways at the centre of the ground floor, with a continuous cornice supported by consoles, and windows in the flanking bays on both sides. The first floor also has regular window placement, while the attic features two pairs of dormers.

The north and south elevations are obscured by adjoining terraces. The west elevation includes a lean-to addition, flanked by ground floor windows, with two segmental-arched stair windows at the centre and two small windows on the first floor above, along with a single window in each flanking bay. The attic floor has two dormers.

The building predominantly features four-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with graded grey slate and has a lead ridge. Stone skews with blocked skewputts are present, along with corniced ridge stacks topped with octagonal cans and cast-iron rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen in 1999. The boundary walls and railings include decorative iron railings with anthemion finials on a low granite wall to the east of the terrace, and brick coped rubble walls at the rear. There are also remains of decorative iron railings on a coped granite wall enclosing a garden across the road from the front elevation.
