Description
21 and 23 Belgrave Terrace in Aberdeen is a semi-detached house built in 1904 by John Rust. It is a single storey with an attic, constructed from tooled coursed grey granite featuring finely finished margins. The building has a base course, entablatured doorways, projecting cills, a dividing band course, and an eaves course.
The northwest elevation, which is the principal side, consists of a two-bay house with an unlisted building to the left. It features a three-light canted window that spans both the ground and attic floors of the inner bay, topped with a terracotta finial at the apex of the piended roof. The outer bay has a ground floor doorway with a panelled timber door and a leaded letterbox fanlight, flanked by a small window. Above this, there is a gableted timber dormer on the attic floor, also with a terracotta finial.
On the southwest elevation, there is an off-centre doorway on the ground floor, with a central window and another window off-centre on the attic floor above.
The southeast elevation was not visible in 2000.
The house predominantly features 2-pane timber sash and case windows, with stained glass in the upper sashes. The roof is a green slate fishscale mansard style with a decorative terracotta ridge. The building has coped stone skews with beaked skewputts, as well as coped gablehead and ridge stacks with circular cans.
The interiors were not seen in 2000. The property is enclosed by low coped granite boundary walls on the northwest side.
