Description
The Gate Lodges at St Machar's Cathedral in The Chanonry, Aberdeen, were designed by John Smith in 1832, incorporating earlier structures of a similar layout. These are a pair of two-storey gothic lodges made of ashlar stone, featuring semi-octagonal fronts and four-centre arched windows. The gatepiers are likely from the 18th century, with possible detailed alterations made in 1832. Notable features include a fine wrought-iron lamp-holder and cast-iron gates.
