9 Ferryhill Place Including Boundary Wall And Gatepiers, Aberdeen

9 Ferryhill Place is a mid-19th century terrace consisting of 22 bays, featuring 2-storey and attic houses arranged in 3-bay and 4-bay configurations. The buildings are constructed from finely finished, tooled coursed grey granite ashlar, with notable architectural details including a base course, projecting cills, pilastered doorways with cornices supported by consoles, panelled timber doors with letterbox fanlights, an eaves course, and canted dormers on the attic floor.

On the north elevation, No 3 is a 4-bay structure with an asymmetrical design, featuring a doorway in the penultimate bay to the left at ground level, regular fenestration across the ground and first floors, and two dormers in the attic. Nos 5, 7, 13, and 15 are 3-bay houses, each with a doorway in the left bay (No 13 has its doorway in the right bay), regular window arrangements on the ground and first floors, and varying dormer configurations in the attic. Nos 9 and 11 have a central doorway at ground level, flanked by windows, with regular fenestration on the first floor and two dormers in the attic.

The west elevation is obscured by an adjoining terrace. The south elevation displays irregular door and window arrangements on the ground and first floors, with predominantly canted dormers in the attic, alongside some modern rectangular dormers. The east elevation features a gabled design with a small square opening off-centre to the left at ground level.

The windows are predominantly 4-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered in grey slate with a lead ridge, and the building features coped stone skews with blocked skewputts, as well as coped granite gablehead and ridge stacks with circular and octagonal cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods are also present.

The interiors were not seen in 1999. The gatepiers and boundary walls consist of low granite coped walls to the north, with square-plan piers and gatepiers topped with pyramidal caps, along with some railings. There are also brick coped rubble walls dividing the northern gardens and at the rear.
