Description

Wellington Suspension Bridge in Aberdeen was built between 1829 and 1831 by Samuel Brown, with later alterations. The bridge features two rough-faced granite pylons designed by John Smith, which are battered and include round archways. It is supported by two bar-link saddle chains with suspender rods on each side, holding a steel-framed wooden deck. An inscription on the northern parapet reads, "Wellington Suspension Bridge Erected 1830 Reconstructed 1930." The bridge has a depressed arch design and a granite parapet, with a date of 1886 inscribed at the center. It connects to the west over Riverside Drive.
