Description

Possible site of an archway, (along a lane to the E of the Rocks Chapel Road, roughly a mile S of Crossgar), built in c.1856 to carry the former Belfast & County Down Railway line over a country lane. The structure was described in September 1978 as ‘Single elliptical arch, rubble basalt, sandstone voussoirs, fielded boasted also string at road level’. Nothing discernible remains of the structure.
