6 Clontigora Road, Newry, Co. Armagh, BT35 8RW

This is a two-bay vernacular house situated on the east side of Clontigora Road in the townland of Killeen, Newry. Built around the mid-19th century, likely between 1840 and 1859, it was first depicted on the 1861 Ordnance Survey map.

The house is aligned east-west and consists of a two-storey right bay and a single-storey left bay. Each bay has a pitched corrugated metal roof with raised skews. The right bay's gable has a lime-rendered chimney with lime-washed brick copings. The house features overhanging eaves with an advanced timber eaves course and lacks rainwater goods. The walls are whitewashed lime rendering over random rubble, except for the exposed left gable of the right bay, which is unrendered. The main elevation faces north.

The right bay has a projecting gabled porch with a felted, pitched roof and timber bargeboards. The porch front features a modern glazed and timber door with an applied moulded panel at the bottom, flanked by blank cheeks. Above the porch is a window to the first floor. All windows are fixed-pane with painted reveals and cement cills. The ground floor window is a 2/2 sash, with a 1/1 sash above. The left bay contains a single 2/2 fixed-pane window with modern bullseye glazing. The rear elevation has a central top-hung casement window to each floor of the left bay and a 2/2 sash window to the right bay. The raised chamfered base course can be seen on the right gable, which is blank. Crude holes have been created at ground floor level in each wall. The valuation of the property remained consistent at 15 shillings from 1862 onwards, as recorded in valuation revision books. Notably, it was not present on the 1835 Ordnance Survey map.
