Rademan Bridge, Church Road, Rademan / Carnacally, Crossgar, Downpatrick, Co Down

This is a roughly hump-backed, rubble-built road bridge, likely constructed before 1834, carrying Church Road over the Ballynahinch River. It is situated approximately 1.5 miles west of Crossgar, near the southern entrance to the Rademon House estate. The bridge is shown on Ordnance Survey maps from 1834 and 1858, marked ‘Rademan Br.’ on the latter. Its right-angle orientation to the river and general appearance suggest a pre-1834 construction date. A section of the wall has been rebuilt in recent years. While not considered to have special architectural or historic interest, the bridge is of industrial archaeological interest. It was formerly and currently serves as a bridge. The date of construction is estimated to be between 1820 and 1839. The bridge was delisted on November 21, 1997.
