Struell House, 11 Struell Wells Road, Strangford, Downpatrick, Co.Down

Struell House is a late-Georgian style residence built between 1834 and 1836 in the townland of Struell, near Strangford, County Down. The house was constructed by Robert Hastings, whose family had held land in the area since at least 1752, and likely replaced an earlier, smaller dwelling. The design is attributed to a local builder rather than a known architect, a common characteristic of farmhouses of this style and period.

The 1836 valuation recorded the main house as measuring 50 feet by 32 feet by 23 feet, accompanied by a substantial range of outbuildings, including two thatched structures. Robert Hastings died in 1879, and the property subsequently passed to Robert Brown. Census records from 1901 and 1911 document the Brown family and their household staff living at Struell House. Robert Brown, a local farmer and later a member of Down County Council, died in 1937. Adam J. Kelly owned the property by 1947 and remained there until at least 1975, and the house has since had further changes of ownership.
