Description
The ruins of a 15th-century church are located within Killyleagh Graveyard, situated in low, marshy ground adjacent to the Dibney River, a short distance northwest of Killyleagh and off the Shrigley Road. The graveyard was consolidated in the 1990s. While the visible remains principally date to the 15th century, the discovery of cross-carved slabs and a Romanesque jamb fragment suggests an earlier foundation on this site. The church was initially listed in February 1980 but was subsequently given protection through scheduling in October 2008, deemed a more appropriate form of safeguarding for this ancient site. The site was delisted on 16 March 2009. The ruins are recorded as derelict and are also considered a monument.
