Description
Glenbrook House was constructed between approximately 1834 and 1836 by Samuel Jackson Cassidy and his wife, Esther Williamson Cassidy. The Ordnance Survey Memoirs of 1836 noted that the house had been built within the previous two years. The designer is not known. The house passed through several generations of the Cassidy family, including Samuel Jackson Cassidy's brother, Francis Peter Cassidy; his son, Dr. Francis Richard Cassidi; and his grandsons, Dr. Francis Laird Cassidi and Dr. Francis Paul Cassidi. It was extensively refurbished in 2013. The building’s construction is documented in Ordnance Survey maps from 1830, 1850-54, and 1905-06, and in the 1836 Ordnance Survey Memoirs for the Parish of Magherafelt.
