Description

A single arched masonry bridge over the Carnlough River, built of snecked basalt rubble with dressed sandstone voussoirs, string course, and copings to parapets. The arch is of segmental form and is skewed on the east face. A modern concrete extension to provide a pedestrian way on the east face now obscures most of the bridge on that side. The coping on McAuley's Hotel side is 40% concrete. SETTING: The bridge is situated on the main road through the village, within the built-up area. It abuts adjacent buildings on the western side, thus preventing easy access to view it on that side.
