Bridge, Dromore Road, Dromara, Dromore, Co Down, BT25

This is a late 18th century masonry arch bridge carrying the Dromore Road over the River Lagan. Built of random rubble, it features two segmental arches. The west arch is significantly higher and wider than the east arch, creating a curved deck. The bridge is largely unaltered; however, metal tie bars have been inserted through the spandrels of the main arch. The deck accommodates a two-lane road. There are no cutwaters to the pier, either upstream or downstream.

The bridge appears on the 1833 Ordnance Survey six-inch map and subsequent editions, and was likely constructed between 1780 and 1799. Its rural setting contributes to its character and it is of local interest, with additional importance due to its age and authenticity. The bridge is of industrial archaeological interest.
