Description

The structure is a gate screen located on Trench Road, Hillsborough, County Down. Originally surveyed but not listed, a partial record was taken during a subsequent survey as it was deemed not worthy of a full survey. Previously identified as HB19/04/008, it serves as the entrance to Orrfield (HB19/04/007A). The screen consists of painted ashlar square piers, which have moulded caps and are topped by ball finials. These support painted cast iron vehicular gates and matching wicket gates. The associated house is not of special interest, and the gates themselves do not merit individual listing. The building’s use is as gates, screens, and a lodge.
