Lislane Bridge, Drumsurn Road, Lislane, Limavady, Co Londonderry, BT49

The Lislane Bridge, built between 1800 and 1819, is a well-constructed, pleasing humpback bridge situated on the Drumsurn Road near Balteagh Presbyterian Church. The western view of the bridge is somewhat affected by a nearby church car park. It is of local interest as a historical artifact.

The bridge is a simple but fine structure built of rubble stone with a semi-circular arch 16 feet wide, and a total breadth of 18 feet. The walls are 3 feet high and 14 inches thick, with lengths of 120 feet on either side. A soldier course of stone detailing is visible along the parapet, which stands approximately 700mm above the carriageway. A second, lower soldier course is apparent below the arch's apex, hinting at a possible rebuilding episode during the bridge’s existence. The bridge is substantially as described in the Ordnance Survey Memoirs of 1835-7, which documented an arch 16 feet wide and specified slate stone construction and excellent repair. The memoirs also noted that the bridge was built at the expense of the county.

The bridge effectively divides the townlands of Lislane and Drumagosker and is of industrial archaeological interest.
