Description

This is a lock on the Newry Canal, located on Canal Bank in Dromantine, Newry. The lock chamber is constructed from a combination of coursed squared granite blocks and random coursed rock-faced stone walling. The structure was surveyed during the First Survey but was not listed, and a partial record only was taken during the Second Survey, as canal structures are not typically considered for full surveys. The building retains its original function as a canal structure. It is not a listed building.
