Description
This is a small, single-storey house with an attic, dating to the later nineteenth century, situated on a bank along Ardminnan Road, just south of the village of Cloughy. The front, or west, elevation features an off-centre, flat-roofed porch with unusual curved mouldings resembling crenellations. A timber panelled front door is located on the right (north) side of the porch, incorporating a moulded ‘heart’ motif in a simple keystone. Modern two-pane timber windows with moulded surrounds are positioned on the front of the porch, with two windows to the left of the porch and two to the right. The north gable has a small, modern two-pane attic window without a surround, and a similar window is present on the south gable, which also has a further similar window to the right at ground floor level. The rear elevation includes a small, right-of-centre gabled return, with modern windows matching those on the main house and return. The window on the right side of the main house's rear elevation is a metal window with six panes.
The front facade and gables are finished with lined render, featuring chamfered vermiculated quoins, a chamfered plinth, and painted surfaces. The rear is finished in plain render, only partially painted. The roof is gabled and pitched, covered with asbestos-free slates on the main house and asbestos slates on the return. Four yellow brick chimneys, each with dentilled corbelling, are present on the main house. A Velux window is situated to the right of centre at the front. The building has cast iron gutters and downspouts.
A smaller building previously occupied the site, as indicated on the Ordnance Survey Map of 1834, suggesting the current house was constructed in the mid to later nineteenth century. The unusual front porch, along with the quoins and moulding on the front facade windows, may be a later Edwardian addition.
