This is a terrace of ten, two-storey, gabled, single-fronted dwellings and shops on the south side of Main Street in the village of Kircubbin. The terrace is of probable late 19th to early 20th century origin, and has undergone significant modernisation and alteration in recent times. Window openings have been enlarged, and modern windows installed in all properties. Numbers 79 and 83 have been converted into shops. The roofs have been recovered with asbestos, asbestos-free, or concrete slates. Modern doors have been installed on numbers 73 to 87, and some of the houses are rendered with limestone chips. Large returns and extensions have been added to the rear of the buildings, most with flat roofs. PVC gutters and downspouts are installed in places, and all chimney stacks have been reconstructed. Buildings are depicted on the Ordnance Survey map of 1834, but due to the extensive alterations and lack of documentary evidence, the precise date of construction is unclear. The curved corner of the building at the south end of the terrace (number 91) suggests this property may have been built or rebuilt in the early twentieth century. It is conceivable that sections of the terrace have been rebuilt at various stages, and the dwellings shown on the 1834 map may have been entirely replaced.
