Milliken’s Mausoleum, Concord Farm, 40 Tullynagardy Road, Tullynagardy, Newtownards, Co Down, BT23 4UQ

This mausoleum/family vault, likely dating to between 1860 and 1870, stands a short distance southeast of Concord Farm, off the Tullynagardy Road, approximately one mile north of Newtownards. The rectangular structure features canted (chamfered) corners and a shallow-pitched roof. The facade is rendered and is adorned with a castellated and dentilled cornice, featuring stunted finials in the centers of the east and west elevations, the original height of these finials is uncertain. A panelled frieze sits below the cornice, with a chamfered plinth at the base. The west facade contains a small, central doorway leading to a recessed, semicircular arched, timber-panelled door with an upper roundel. The east facade has a cut stone rose window, with recently replaced coloured glass. The roof is rendered with a decorative crested clay ridge. The mausoleum serves as the family vault for the Milliken family, who have owned Concord Farm for two centuries. It does not appear on the Ordnance Survey Map of 1860 and may therefore date from around 1860-1870. The structure is situated on private land close to the farmhouse and possesses architectural interest due to its proportions, ornamentation, plan form, and setting, as well as local historical interest.
