Description

A twin-arched masonry bridge carrying a road over the Clady Water. Built of basalt rubble with rough stone voussoirs to segmental arches. Piers are faced with a triangular cutwater on each face. Rounded cement rendered copings over the river with rough stone copings beyond. Recessed arch and spandrel panel. Slightly humped carriageway, with grassy verges. Long approach wall on south side at east end, containing a segmental archway for flood water. Cutwater on north side has been capped with concrete supporting a services pipe across face of arches. SETTING: The bridge stands in a very rural area surrounded by rolling agricultural land; grassy banks with mature trees. Parapet on north side at west end now abutted by a new basalt rubble screen wall to a new entrance gateway to a nearby property.
