Description

The water-wheel, constructed of cast iron and timber, is in a derelict condition. It dates to between 1840 and 1859 and is visible on an Ordnance Survey map from 1857. Originally, it was part of a two-storey, hipped-roofed stone mill, which has since been demolished, leaving the wheel without its original context and significantly diminishing its architectural and historical value. The wheel stands partly below and partly above ground level beside a path along the northern bank of the Six Mile Water river, within a wooded area accessible by a path from an 'office park'. It retains industrial archaeological interest.
