Description
Detached three-bay two-storey early nineteenth century vernacular farmhouse with attached outbuildings situated to the east side of Clonkeen Road. Rectangular direct entry plan facing west, roof is pitched natural slate, overhanging at gable ends and brick corbel-course to eaves. Red brick chimneys to both gables with corbel-course to top. Few cast iron downpipes remaining, cast iron gutter brackets to main house and extension to north. Walling is lime rendered masonry, unless otherwise stated. Windows are timber painted 2/2 sliding sash (horizontally divided) with exposed boxes and sloping masonry cills. The principal elevation has central entrance door with smooth rendered stepped surround surmounted by curved moulded canopy. Door is timber with fifteen glazed panels. Single window to each ground floor flanking bay. First floor has 1/2 sashes with masonry cills to each bay. The left gable is blank and is abutted by two lower pitched and slated outhouses. The rear elevation has two six panel steel casement windows with continuous concrete cill to first floor and is abutted by a one-and-a-half-storey multi-bay outbuilding to the left, and single-storey lean-to extension to the right. South gable elevation is blank. The outbuildings to east elevation are multi-bay roughcast render, with lucarne window (mullioned side hung steel casement) to north and south sides. The lean-to extension has asbestos tiles and timber eaves board; vertically sheeted timber door to left and six panel steel casement windows to right. Outbuildings to north are pitched slated, multi-bay, with roughcast render and replacement casement windows. Setting The site is bound to east and south by hedges and is accessed at west by cast iron entrance gate on original brick piers. The north is also accessed by cast iron gate. The rear east side of the property comprises a rectangular concrete yard enclosed by outbuildings and random rubble wall to east.
