Description
The gateway and wall linking The Priory and the barn, located about 14 metres north, are possibly from the 15th century and have been modified. They are constructed from mostly cut and squared Ham stone with ashlar dressings. The wall stands approximately 5 metres high and features worn stepped angled coping. Just north of the centre, there is a tall 3-centre-arched gateway with low 20th-century timber gates, alongside a lower pointed-arched postern that is now blocked. Buttresses flank the major arch on the western side. This structure is part of the setting of The Priory and connects it to a barn, making it an important feature in the streetscape of the village centre.
