Description
Number 9 on Button Street is a building dating from around 1700 that has been restored. It is constructed from rubble with a pantile roof and features a stone chimney on the right side. The building has two storeys, attics, and a cellar. There are three windows on the front, which are of the two-light mullion type, although the mullions have been modernized with chamfered designs. Weathered strings are present above the window heads, with the first-floor window now positioned higher than it originally was. The ground floor windows have been returned to their original pattern. The central doorcase has a modern bolection surround and is topped with a hollow semi-circular stone hood supported by brackets. The tympanum above the door incorporates a carved cherub head in stone from the 18th century. The interior has been remodeled. This building adjoins No 9 Vallis Road.
