Description

Upper Weare Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that has undergone alterations and additions in the 18th and early 19th centuries. It has roughcast exterior walls and a slate roof with coped verges, and brick stacks. The farmhouse has two storeys and three bays, featuring 3-light casement windows with glazing bars set within moulded stone surrounds, each with a stopped label. A recessed door opening is situated between the second and third bays, also framed by a moulded stone surround with a stepped label, leading to a plank door. An attached rubble barn stands to the right of the front gate and features a pantile roof with coped verges and finials. The barn includes a broad ground floor door opening with two plank doors and a small hayloft opening with a plank door on the first floor. A rubble forecourt wall with plain coping runs along the front, and a pair of tall rubble gate piers with plain caps mark the entrance.
