Description

The Old Vicarage is a cottage, possibly dating back to the 17th century, with significant rebuilding occurring in the 19th century. It is constructed with a rubble base and rendered upper stories, with the upper three bays rebuilt in painted brick. A stepped brick buttress is visible at the left gable end, and the roof is thatched, featuring an 18th-century brick stack to the right, joined by a more recent stack abutting a single-storey extension.

The original plan incorporates a two-cell layout with a cross passage and outshut, accompanied by an agricultural wing to the east. This wing is single-storey, set low under the eaves due to the rising ground to the west. The cottage is two storeys at the front and one storey at the rear, with a three-by-one bay arrangement. Windows are wooden casements, mostly with two or three lights and moulded brick sills. The ground floor features semi-circular headed window openings with brick surrounds. The central entrance has a plank door set within a gabled porch, and another door is located beside the inserted stack in the former agricultural wing. A large raking buttress is present on the right return. The interior remains unseen. The building is listed primarily for its group value.
