Description
The Boathouse is a mid-18th century structure located in Lullington, within Orchardlea Park. It features a square boat chamber built from rubble, with a front made of quarry-faced ashlar. The building has a broad central archway, which is framed by dressed quarry-faced voussoirs that provide access to the interior. Above the boat chamber is a classical-style "temple" that is rendered and topped with a slate roof. The pedimented front is supported by four Ionic columns. There is a door opening that is set back within a moulded stone architrave, featuring a bolection frieze and a moulded cornice, although the door itself is missing. On either side of the door opening, there are window openings in a similar style, complete with moulded sills, but the windows are also missing.
