Description
Reform Cottage is a detached cottage dated 1836, with an extension added in 1857. It features a rear facade made of Ham stone ashlar, with roughly cut and squared stone on the sides. The roof is plain clay tiled and has stepped coped gables, along with brick chimney stacks. The cottage is two storeys high and has three bays. The windows include plain mullioned three-light windows with slight chamfers in bays two and three, and a large four-pane sash window in bay one. To the right of the upper window in bay one is a plaque dated 1857, and between the upper windows in bays two and three is another plaque reading 'Reform Cottage 1836'. There is a lean-to projection in lower bay three with an ornamental gable over an open porch, which features a beaded doorway in the main wall. The interior has not been seen. Reform Cottage is part of a group of small houses near the Ham stone quarries and is likely a stonemason's house.
