Description
This is an end cottage in a row, dated 1826, located on Ham Hill Road in Stoke sub Hamdon. It is constructed from cut and squared Ham stone, with ashlar dressings on the facade, and coursed rubble on the sides and rear. The roof is made of Welsh slate and features a stepped coped gable at the north end, with a brick chimney stack. The cottage is two stories high and has two bays. It includes three-light plain mullioned windows with beaded surrounds, and the doorway is situated between the bays, featuring a shallow open porch with ashlar side walls and a flat stone top. The datestone from 1826 is positioned between the upper windows. This cottage is part of a group of small houses near the Ham stone quarries and is likely to have been a stonemason's house. The interior has not been seen.
