Description

Little Kibbear is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with the west end rebuilt in the 19th century and restored in the late 20th century. The building is roughcast over rubble and possibly cob, topped with a late 20th century interlocking tile roof. The gable ends feature roughcast stacks, with brick to the left of the cross passage.

The layout consists of three cells and a cross passage, with the inner room having been rebuilt larger for agricultural purposes but now used for domestic living. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a façade of two bays on the left and three on the right. All windows are from the late 20th century, with the left end featuring two gabled dormers that rise through the eaves, creating a break in the façade. There are three windows to the right, with two windows on the ground floor to the left of the break, and windows flanking a 20th century door in the second bay on the right.

Inside, there is a plank and muntin cross passage screen with a peaked doorframe that is now blocked. The fireplace has a chamfered lintel, and the hall features a four-panel hollow chamfered compartment ceiling along with a fireplace that has moulded stone jambs and a deep bressumer. A 20th century lateral stair is located against the rear wall, while the large inner room is featureless. The roof structure consists of principal rafter roof trusses with staggered butt purlins.
