Description

Ford Cottage and associated outbuildings, located approximately 25 metres west of The Court, is a cottage and outbuilding complex. It was originally built in 1792, with significant reshaping work undertaken in 1951. The construction utilizes local lias stone, cut and squared, with Welsh slate roofing and overhung gables. Brick chimney stacks are also present. The building is arranged as a T-plan, featuring a one-story, three-bay north wing. This wing has chamfered mullioned windows with square labels over bays 2 and 3, and a matching window within a single-story projection from bay 1. The roof incorporates a flat, dormer window featuring a three-light casement in bay 2. Two datestones are situated within bay 3; the upper stone reads "RF 1792" (referring to Richard Ford, the rector, who also rebuilt The Court) and the lower stone reads "Ford Cottage 1951." The primary entrance is on the north side. The interior remains unexamined. Outbuildings extend westward and southward, the southern extension including a through wagon arch with weatherboard cladding above, followed by stables and other ancillary structures. A catslide roofed extension is on the west side. The complex forms a visually appealing group with The Court.
