Description

Turnpike Cottage is a mid-19th century cottage constructed from lime washed, coursed rubble Doulting stone, topped with a stone slate gabled roof featuring end ashlar stone chimney stacks, the left-hand stack having a moulded cap. The building is a single storey with an attic and has a two-window front, with a gable-roofed dormer window on the left and an off-centre entrance. The windows are 2-light, 6-pane casements, generally with chamfered stone lintels, although the right-hand window has a timber lintel. The entrance features a horizontally divided door beneath a stone hood slab, which is supported by projecting ashlar stone reveals.
