Description

This building, likely originally four houses, now functions as four shops. It was probably built in the late 18th or early 19th century. The exterior is roughcast, likely over limestone rubble, with a slate roof, stepped stone copings to the gable ends, and brick stacks in the centre of the ridge and at the gable ends. The building follows a double-depth plan. It has two storeys and a four-window front. Two shops are located to the right, sharing a single name and featuring 20th-century shopfronts. The upper floor has two off-centre, three-light casement windows, positioned towards the stack ends. The leftmost bay is incorporated into an adjacent shop (number 46) and has 20th-century windows. A centrally located shop also has a 20th-century shopfront, with a two-light casement window above it on the right. The interior was not inspected. The building is listed for its group value.
