Description

Coxhill Bridge is a public road bridge built between 1824 and 1827. It is constructed of brick and features a single elliptical arch, a band, solid parapet, and piers, all topped with half-round brick coping. Iron rope-fenders are installed along the edges of the arch to protect the towpath. The retaining wall for the towpath displays cross-hatched brickwork and some stone edging. The bridge was part of the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal, which was engineered by James Hillinsworth during its construction.
