Description
The archway at the entrance to Bowden's Old Lace Factory was built in 1901. It is constructed from Flemish bond brick with Bath stone dressings and features a slate roof. The center of the archway is part of a long range that is stuccoed up to the quoins. It has a large round arch in the center, flanked by narrower and lower arches on either side. The rear of the archway includes one large segmental arch. The design includes rusticated quoins and pillars between the arches, which are adorned with stepped voussoirs and bevelled keystones. Above the arches, there is a pediment with a deeply-moulded cornice and coping. A datestone with the inscription "B & Co AD 1901" is also present.
